Company Policy: No Diagnostic, Fault Finding, or Testing Work

At Jonathan Fry Automotive Ltd, we take pride in delivering reliable, high-quality automotive repair and maintenance services. To ensure we maintain the standards our customers have come to expect, we have made the strategic decision not to undertake diagnostic, fault finding, or testing work. This policy has been carefully considered and is based on several important operational factors:

1. High Costs of Diagnostic Technology

Modern vehicles are increasingly complex, requiring advanced diagnostic equipment and access to up-to-date technical data to accurately identify faults. Investing in this level of technology involves significant upfront and ongoing costs, including:

  • Manufacturer-specific tools and software licences

  • Continuous training for technicians to stay current with evolving systems

  • Subscription fees for technical databases and support platforms

By choosing not to offer diagnostic services, we are able to keep our overheads lower and focus our resources on delivering affordable and efficient core repair and maintenance work.

2. Unpredictable Nature of Diagnostic Work

Diagnostic and fault-finding tasks can vary greatly in scope and duration. While some issues may be identified quickly, others can require extended troubleshooting and investigation. This unpredictability presents a challenge for effective workshop scheduling and can lead to:

  • Delays in completing scheduled repair work

  • Disruption to workflow and technician availability

  • Inconsistent turnaround times for customers

To ensure we can provide a timely and dependable service for all of our customers, we have chosen to limit our operations to work that can be clearly scoped and scheduled in advance.

3. Limited Space and Resources

Our workshop is designed for general automotive repair and maintenance and does not have the infrastructure needed to support full-scale diagnostic operations. Limitations include:

  • Insufficient space for storing vehicles awaiting or undergoing extensive testing

  • Lack of dedicated bays for long-term fault investigation

  • Limited capacity for the specialised equipment required for modern diagnostics

Prioritising efficient use of our available space allows us to maintain a clean, organised, and productive working environment.

4. Recommendation for Diagnostic Services

If your vehicle requires diagnostic evaluation, fault code analysis, or system testing, we recommend that you contact either:

  • A main dealership with brand-specific diagnostic capability

  • An independent specialist who is properly equipped and experienced in fault-finding for your vehicle make and model

These providers will have access to the necessary tools, training, and technical data to accurately diagnose and advise on complex vehicle issues.

We appreciate your understanding and support of this policy. Our goal is to be transparent about what we offer so that you receive the best possible service from the right provider.

For all other repair, maintenance, servicing, and general mechanical work, Jonathan Fry Automotive Ltd remains your trusted partner. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss how we can help keep your vehicle in great condition.
